Mentoring Opportunity

The GRAWA Diversity Committee and School Without Walls have partnered with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Rochester in a mentoring partnership that matches high school students who hope to become lawyers with GRAWA mentors who act as positive role models and provide experiences to enable students to achieve their academic and career goals.  Mentors are expected to meet in person with their students twice a month and communicate with them by telephone and/or email twice a month.  If you are interested or would like more information please contact Tiffany Lee at TLTilee@aol.com or call 585-766-7817.

New York Parent Education and Awareness Program (PEAP)

The New York State Parent Education and Awareness Program (PEAP) is an initiative of Chief Judge Judith S. Kaye, and Chief Judge Jonathan Lippman, and Chaired by the Hon. Evelyn Frazee, a Supreme Court Justice of Rochester.  Parent education is offered by certified providers to help separating or divorcing parents better understand the effects of their breakup on their children and to give them information and ideas about how to make the new family situation easier and more livable for themselves and their children.  There are currently 51 certified providers with a presence in all 62 Counties in New York State.  Please check the website at http://www.nycourts.gov/ip/parent-ed/ for a list of certified providers.  The Programs are certified through our Office, and can then accept orders or referrals from the Family Courts or the Supreme Court matrimonial parts.  Parents can self refer, lawyers can refer parents and agencies can refer them too. Please help spread the word.
