GRAWA Members Invited to Discussion Regarding Recent Events in Our Nation
Events in recent months have left many of us reeling. We have watched the national news with unrelenting stories of the senseless deaths of African Americans and the senseless deaths of law enforcement officers, and experienced or observed the tension and strife as issues of race make the headlines each day. In Rochester, we have seen Black Lives Matter demonstrators arrested, and police officers modifying procedures in order to ensure officer safety.
At the July Board meeting, our Board discussed what, if anything, GRAWA should do in response to national and local events. We reached the conclusion that our first step should be to provide an opportunity for our members to meet to talk about these matters, and whether our organization should attempt to have a role. We recognize these conversations can be difficult ones, so it is with our hope that members can join us with open minds and open hearts to share our thoughts and feelings about if and how our organization can contribute to our community at this difficult time.
You are invited to a lunchtime discussion, open to all members at Nixon Peabody, Tuesday, August 16, 2016, 12:15 pm - 2:00 pm, Nixon Peabody 14th Floor. BYOL - Please bring your own lunch. If you are able to attend, please RSVP to Jill Paperno at firstname.lastname@example.org. If you wish to communicate with Jill (or any other Board member) about this, please feel free to email her, or email GRAWA at info@GRAWA.org.
