and Chronicle published a brief profile of Sheila Gaddis
in a recent Sunday edition. Asked about her work with low-income clients,
Sheila said: “Sharing my skills and experience with a diverse group
of people allows me to fully understand the community in which I live.”
Kari
Smoker and her husband will be adopting a baby from China
within the next few months.
The Honorable
Teresa Johnson has been honored by the Rochester
Black Bar Association with the Pioneer Award, recognizing her as the
first black woman to be elected to Rochester City Court.
New GRAWA member,
Michelle Fagan, will soon be starting her legal career
at Connors & Corcoran.

Baker Leit is now working part-time for Jeffrey Wicks, LLC.
Paloma
Capanna recently announced her plans to run for Congress
in 2006.

GRAWA co-founder,
Trudy Nowak, is living in Phoenix, Arizona. She recently
left the employ of the U.S. Department of Justice and started two
debtor education businesses for which she will be offering an on-line
curriculum and live classes in Phoenix and Tuscon. Also, in mid-October
she is opening a law firm, Anderson & Nowak, PLC, concentrating
exclusively in bankruptcy matters.
Laura
Clemens, former GRAWA member and daughter of Maggie Clemens,
has moved to the Cayman Islands and is practicing family law there.
Jennifer
Mandina is now living in New York City. She took the Patent
Bar recently.
