In the News - April/May 2006 Jennifer Powers Iacobucci gave birth to a boy on April 10. She and her husband named the baby Jason Robert Iacobucci. Concentrating her practice in estate planning and administration, Christen Bruu joined Woods, Oviatt, Gilman LLP as an associate. Congressional hopeful Paloma Capanna recently read some of her original poetry at Daily Perks. Amy Campbell has accepted a new opportunity as an advocate for special needs/ vulnerable kids through the Regional Early Childhood Direction Center. In the April issue of Business Strategies Magazine, Susan Laluk was quoted in her capacity as President of Digital Rochester. Nora A. Jones has joined BOA Editions, Ltd. as Executive Director. This not-for-profit poetry publisher is celebrating its 30 th anniversary this year. The New York State Bar Association recognized Hope Ollson with the 2006 Pro Bono Award. (Go to the Newsletter page for more about Hope.) Nicole Black has written several articles for The Daily Record recently, including one explaining the usefulness of blogs. A recent U.S. Supreme Court decision clarifying the Securities Litigation Uniform Standards Act was the topic of an article penned by Carolyn Nussbaum for the April 24 edition of The Daily Record . Brighton Town Court Judge Karen Morris presented a book discussion at Barnes and Noble in Pittsford on Law Day – discussing Dear Senator, a memoir by the daughter of Strom Thurmond and his family's 15-year-old black maid. Lucinda Lapoff was a presenter at a recent seminar titled “Strategies to Avoid Becoming a Victim” – a program addressing collective and class actions under the Fair Labor Standards Act and the New York Labor Law. In conjunction with Law Day activities, Stephanie McNinch once again took part in the dialogue with area high school students, and wrote about the program in the May 1 edition of The Daily Record. This year's theme was Dialogue on the Separation of Powers – and represented the fourth installment of the ABA 's annual program.
