Attendance at this year's New Member Reception was very good – especially when adding up how many brand new members stopped by. A number of recent graduates and attorneys who recently transferred to Rochester were among those mingling with many past and present GRAWA officers and committee chairs.

The September 20 gathering was largely a social event – so much so that it was difficult for President Denine Carr to get the attention of the crowd for the few announcements she had planned. Denine welcomed the new members and talked about the continued goal to surpass the 300 mark with membership.

“Last year we got to 297 members,” Denine said. “As our membership grows, so does our representation at WBASNY meetings. I am delighted that we have been in a growth mode, but I also know we haven't reached everyone that could benefit from our organization.”

Each year the New Members Reception is the forum for recognizing GRAWA members who have been admitted to the bar for 25 years. This year's 25-year club included: Sheldon W. Boyce; Eileen E. Buholtz; Margaret Burt ; Jeanne M. Colombo; Lonny H. Dolin; Mary V. Fisher; Nora A. Jones; Nancy D. Peck; Rochester City Court Judge Ann Pfeiffer; Terry M. Servis; Dale E. Skivington; and Wendy P. Solovay.

Audrey Peartree, immediate past president and chair of the Mentoring Committee, spoke about this year's mentoring program, extending an invitation to this year's kick-off event on October 6.
