In the News - September and October 2006

It is with deep sadness that we inform you of the death of Judge Kaye's husband, Stephen Rackow Kaye. Mr. Kaye, former Chair of the Litigation and Dispute Resolution Department at Proskauer Rose, was one of the nation’s pre-eminent litigators, with a wealth of trial and appellate experience. He was known for his devotion to his clients and his dedication to the highest standards of professional conduct, and he enjoyed sharing his knowledge and love for the law with young lawyers as a mentor and teacher. He is survived by three grown children and six grandchildren. Judge Kaye and her family will be sitting shiva at home on Wednesday, November 1st and Thursday, November 2nd evenings.  To pay your respects in person, or to send a note, the address is 101 Central Park West, Apt. 5A, New York, NY  10023.

Congratulations to Brighton Town Court Justice and law professor at MCC, Karen Morris.  She was named "Distinguished Teaching Professor" by the Board of Trustees of the State University of New York.  This was reportedly the first time the award was given to a community college professor.  An article appeared in The Daily Record on 10-11-06.

Sarah Feingold was also written up recently in The Daily Record and Democrat & Chronicle for having won the award for "Ugliest Necklace in America."

Congratulations to June Castellano.  GRAWA's nominee to WBASNY for the NYSBA's Ruth Shapiro award was chosen by WBASNY to be its nominee as well.  WBASNY Board of Directors chose June at its September 16, 2006 meeting.

Congratulations to James and Amy Coté on the birth of their daughter, Ada Eleanor. Ada was born on September 8th at 1:28 am. She was 7lbs 11oz and 20 3/4" long.
