In the News - January and February MedAmerica Insurance Co. of New York recently announced the appointment of Angela Gormel to the position of Assistant Secretary of MedAmerica. In addition to her current duties as Director of Legal and Compliance, Gormel will act as a corporate officer to oversee compliance with applicable insurance laws. She is a graduate of the State University of New York at Buffalo School of Law. |

For a CLE program titled “New York FMLA Update 2005,” Greta Kolcon of Woods Oviatt Gilman is serving as moderator. The Council on Education in Management program is slated for February 18.
Susan Laluk, Greta Kolcon and Sharon Stiller all contributed articles to a recent Employment Law Supplement to The Daily Record. Margaret Burt has been selected as this year's recipient of the Stephanie E. Kupferman Juvenile Justice Award, given to a WBASNY member who has shown outstanding achievement in legal matters involving juveniles over a period of three or more years. Watch for more details about the award to be presented at the WBASNY Annual Convention.
Nicole M. Marro has joined the law firm of Jill M. Cicero & Associates as an associate attorney. She brings nine years of legal experience to the firm and concentrates her practice in the areas of estate planning and administration. Marro previously worked at Nixon Peabody LLP. The New York State Bar Association has selected Laurie Lambrix as this year's recipient of the Haywood Burns Award, given each year to an individual who has worked to advance the civil rights of people in New York , assisting powerless people in the struggle for justice. Janice Styles-Hall, CFP, has joined J.P. Morgan Chase Bank as a personal banker in the Brighton Office (12 Corners), where she helps individuals and business owners with banking products, home equity loans, retirement planning and investments. Styles-Hall was recently profiled in Rochester Women's Magazine.
The Steering Committee for Women United, a special fundraising group associated with the United Way of Greater Rochester, is chaired this year by Sharon Stiller , partner at Underberg & Kessler, and includes Anita Pellitier, an associate at Nixon Peabody LLP. Other Women United committees include participation by GRAWA members Carolyn Nussbaum, Audrey Peartree and Nora A. Jones.
