GRAWA congratulates WBASNY President, Maureen E. Maney, who has just recently been named a 2013 Rising Star by the New York Law Journal!
A panel of judges selected a total of 44 attorneys out of more than 200 nominations to be this year’s Rising Stars. These attorneys are 40 and under and have demonstrated that they are top contributors to the practice of law and their communities. Maureen is one of only two Upstate New York attorneys on this list.

Jill Cicero was nominated by her peers for inclusion in the 19th Edition of Best Lawyers in United States in the practice area of Trusts and Estates. Jill has been a Best Lawyer in the United States in the area of Trusts and Estates since 2001, but this is an additional recognition. Additionally, she is named the Best Lawyers' 2013 Rochester, NY Trusts and Estates "Lawyer of the Year".
GRAWA Member Catherine "Kate" Cerulli, who has extensive academic and legal experience in combating domestic violence and addressing victimization, has been named director of the University of Rochester's Susan B. Anthony Center for Women's Leadership! The center runs programs on issues of importance to women and works to overcome barriers to women in leadership.
Congratulations to Jill Paperno on authoring and publishing her first book! Representing the Accused: A Practical Guide to Criminal Defense provides invaluable advice for navigating your way through a criminal case. The book is available for purchase at Thomson Reuters West Law.
2011-2012 GRAWA Member Recognition
GRAWA member, Sheila A. Gaddis, Esq., Executive Director of Volunteer Legal Services Project of Monroe County and a partner at Hiscock & Barclay, has been honored with the National Association of Pro Bono Professionals 2012 Tanya Neiman Pro Bono Professional of the Year Award. Sheila received the award in recognition of her dedication to public service and equal access to justice. A commitment to equal access to justice and public service have been hallmarks of Sheila's distinguished career.
Meghan M. Lynch, Esq., Christin Murphy Cornetta, Esq. and Alison J. Rich, Esq. - recipients of the The Daily Record's 2012 Up and Coming Attorneys Award.
Marlene A. Attardo, Esq. recipient of the Hon. Michael F. Dillon Attorneys for Children Award presented by the Supreme Court Appellate Division, Fourth Department. The award signifies vigorous advocacy on behalf of children and is named for the late Presiding Justice Dillon, who spearheaded the development of high quality representation for children in the Fourth Department, and initiated mandatory training for attorneys for children in the state.
Ardeth L. Houde, Esq. presented with the James R. Boyle Award. The James R. Boyle Award is presented annually by The Legal Aid Society of Rochester to an individual or organization in recognition of excellence in advocacy on behalf of children, children’s rights and children’s services. The award will be presented at MCBA's Law Day Luncheon on April 24, 2012.

GRAWA members, Penny Dentinger, Victoria Lagoe, and Laura Taylor were Empire State Counsel Program honorees by the NYSBA for having provided 50+ hours of pro bono service in 2011. In addition GRAWA member, Marla Pilaroscia donated over 50 hours of pro bono service but is not a member of NYSBA therefore, was not eligible for designation as Empire State Counsel.
